MassMotion software is used to predict how people will behave in a structure on fire with reduced uncertainties.

As part of a collaboration with Arup Canada, we are studying how to make long term care homes safer if a fire occurs (are modelling work is currently described here ). This research utilizes Carleton University’s strength in Architectural Conservation and Sustainability Engineering and we offer one of the only courses on this subject in Canada. Several papers have recently been published which all can be accessed in the publications section.  The project is funded primarily through a $25,000 grant in support with Arup, Canada.
